On Monday, Dec 18, I had top surgery (a double mastectomy with free nipple grafts). Since then, I haven’t been able to do much - I can’t raise my arms above my head, or lift more than 5 pounds. I’m winded in minutes. This is a photo set from my first bath since surgery - in the tub at my parents’ house, as we were also in the middle of 4 days without power.

Come tenderly observe my body - what it looks like now, in the midst of transformation and discomfort, and the ache for pleasure. These shots are the most vulnerable photos I’ve taken for the site, and they’re the beginning of an ongoing doc*mentation of my experience as a nonbinary person after a life-changing surgery.

These images are still, eerie, helpless, powerful, and raw. They show my limits, and my limitlessness. I hope you enjoy them, as they are incredibly important to me.

Here’s to being comfortable and safe in our own bodies, being our own beautiful, and continuing to learn all the ways to experience pleasure.
